This session will focus on providing information and guidance about a series of critical processes and documents for doctoral internships that are seeking APA accreditation or are already APA-accredited. Specifically, the session will focus on the connection between internship evaluation forms, the APA’s profession-wide competencies, and required proximal outcome data. The session will seek to assist programs in the alignment of their internship evaluation forms with the profession-wide competencies in a manner that reflects training provided by/at the program along with the competencies that must also be demonstrated in the APA accreditation self-study.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Explain how internship evaluation forms should align with profession-wide competencies
  • Assess the extent to which an evaluation form does or does not allow a program the ability to collect necessary proximal data
  • Discuss and apply expectations for internship proximal data
  • Compile information from evaluation forms that will satisfy data requirements

Presented by Mr. Joe Gayk

Mr. Joe Gayk is a health care and education professional with over a decade of experience in health professions education and regulatory affairs. In addition to his role as Senior Consultant at Clover, he serves as the Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Stanford University School of Medicine where, among other initiatives, he leads strategy development and oversees a longitudinal school-wide quality improvement system. Joe served in multiple roles in the Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation at the American Psychological Association from 2013 to 2018, including Assistant Director of Policy Analysis and Communications and Senior Manager of Preliminary Review. Joe holds a Master’s of Science in Clinical Informatics from Stanford University.
